Technical highlights

Floating pick-up
   High loading speeds require a reliable and powerful pick-up. Only a clean crop can guarantee trouble-free fermentation for high energy-content silage. That is what the Pöttinger floating pick-up is designed for.
  • The wide pick-up delivers incredible performance even with heavy and irregular swaths. There is less stress on the driver.
  • Pick-up widths: FARO and EUROPROFI: 1.85 m.
  • Six rows of tines and a tine spacing of 55 mm - every stem is picked up reliably even at high travelling speeds.
  • The pick-up tines are bolted onto heavy gauge tubes. Heavy-duty Super "C"-quality tines have a longer service life.
The Pöttinger secret:
A newly-developed pickup suspension system with heavy-duty floating frame.
  • Two hinged support links at either end provide excellent ground hugging. This pick-up adjusts both horizontally and vertically to the ground contours. Nothing is left behind: the turf remains undamaged and no dirt is picked up.
  • The fine-tuned counter-springs absorb any shocks and prevent the pick-up from sinking in on damp ground.
  • The height-adjustable rubber tyred wheels contact the ground on exactly the same line as the tines and guide the pick-up perfectly through each hollow.
  • Steered jockey wheels enable the pick-up to corner with even less damage - standard equipment on the EUROPROFI, optional for FARO.
Swath roller
The height adjustable swath guide plate combined with a swath roller make sure you get perfect crop flow even at high speed and with short, wet crop. Standard equipment on the EUROPROFI.

Tempered transfer plates
Between the pick-up and the rotor the crop passes over transfer plates. Here, any foreign objects (such as stones) are able to fall through, away from the crop. This system is only available from Pöttinger. Both the rotor and the knives are protected.

are made from dual deep-groove bearings and are designed for really punishing conditions.


JUMBO pick-up transmission
A heavy-duty bevel gear transmission submerged in oil ensures the pick-up runs smoothly in extreme operating conditions.


EUROPROFI - Euromatic
   Years ahead on experience guarantees reliable operation for a long service life. Heavy-duty construction, oversize bearings, smooth running and incredible loading capacity: everything built for endurance.

The original: years ahead on experience
  • EUROMATIC loading rotor has a large diameter and two tine rings for each knife.
  • The loading rotor has bearings on the inside so the bending moment of the shaft is low.
  • The inner drum is made of hardened boron steel.
  • Heavy-duty self-aligning roller bearings.
  • Well-proportioned transmission for tractors up to 180 hp.
  • Extra-strength roller chain for reliable transmission.
  • Automatic chain lubrication.
  • The feed rotor teeth are made from hardened fine-grained steel.
  • The teeth are arranged in an optimised helix for jolt-free and smooth loading without torque peaks.
  • The knives are positioned in relation to the rotor to lower the power requirement and reduce loss due to disintegration.
  • Highest loading performance and reliability, low maintenance requirements, only two lubrication nipples.
The plus with EUROMATIC
Eight helix-configured rows of tines load without power peaks. Pöttinger has already had years of experience with this rotor: proven technology, low resistance, protects crop, very precise cut.

Well-proportioned transmission
Protected up to 180 hp. The transmission splits the flow of power. One power train goes to the rotor and pickup. The second powers the discharge beaters. Chain couplings connect the main transmission with the other gear units. This service-friendly set up enables units to be removed quickly.

The scrapers
Scrapers are fitted individually, but secured by common mounting pin. Stepped shape of scraper back absorbs pressure of crop inside trailer Each knife has two tine rings, the high number of scrapers prevents the crop from wrapping around the rotor.

The feed rings are not welded to the rotor drum; they are just hooked in so that they can be replaced individually if required.


Protecting the crop
The tines are swept back so that they exit the crop cleanly with no risk of forage wrapping around the rotor.


A selection of axles and tyres
  

Increasing load volumes and transport speeds necessitate robust and soil-protecting chassis. Pöttinger has made great efforts in this area. They have responded with tyres with large footprints, tridem axles and a unique 8-wheel chassis.

Tandem axle with parabolic suspension
Parabolic suspension with large spring-to-axle spacing and compensator for height regulation. Ideal suspension hopping properties at the silo and smooth running in fields and on the road. Stable trailing linkages apply the braking and steering force. An advantage of parabolic suspension with a large spring-to-axle spacing is better handling control on slopes.

Pneumatic brakes
The 4-wheel pneumatic brake system with automatic load-dependent braking system (ALB) controls ensures safe braking at high speed and with heavy loads. Can also be fitted with ABS if required.

Hydraulic braking
Hydraulic brakes can be supplied for some countries.

Jockey steering axle
Axle unit for protecting the turf and reducing the power requirement for cornering. When reversing or driving at speed, the steering axle can be locked into place using a separate hydraulic fitting. A system that protects the tyres.

TRIDEM Chassis
Soil protection with three axles
Protecting the soil is the first priority. The Pöttinger tridem chassis distributes high loads across a large area so that the pressure on the ground remains low.
The large axle regulation is a special feature. A hydropneumatic suspension enables an axle pendulum swing of 10.63” / 270 mm. This allows the axle load to be distributed evenly. The trailer benefits from reduced side forces and runs quietly – with steering on both sides. Tests show that this saves fuel. The axle regulation ensures even wear of brakes on all axles.


Tridem chassis

8-Wheel-Chassis

Perfect soil protection
Heavy machinery and high wheel pressure make soil protection a central issue. The 8-wheel chassis significantly reduces soil compaction.
On this unique chassis the wheels sit in pairs on the self-aligning axles. The rear axle pairs trail freely, thereby protecting both the wheels and the turf.  A hydraulic leveller with patented pendulum swing ensures optimum pressure distribution. This improves slope efficiency.
The hydraulic suspension optimises driving comfort, and pneumatic or hydraulic braking systems ensure a high braking performance even at speed.
Due to the lower platform height in comparison with 26.5” tyres, the loading rotor can move more freely.

   This is a benefit that every driver appreciates during long days of cropping. All functions can be carried out from the driver´s seat.

DIRECT CONTROL
Standard at FARO and EUROPROFI (Version L). You can use the DIRECT CONTROL software to execute all loading functions:

POWER CONTROL
EUROPROFI (Version L) TORRO and JUMBO silage trailers are fitted out with a standard POWER CONTROL pad. The computer also contains ISOBUS software. Integrated diagnostic functions and error reports allow problems to be solved quickly. The joystick control makes it particularly easy to use – and takes work to a new level.
All automatic functions can be controlled directly from the pad. Error messages are also displayed. There is integrated data logging.

    Detailed information

    BODY
    The chassis of the FARO silage trailer range is a bolted frame construction of C 220x70x50x5QSTE fine grain steel. The closed steel body is constructed to take heavy loads. Sturdy platform profiles, closely spaced, provide high stability. Profile panels with smooth sides and a special coating ensure that the forage is unloaded smoothly and completely.


    The straight side columns are bolted to the frame, not welded. What makes it special: fine-thread fitting for high stability.

    DRAWBAR SYSTEMS
    The silage trailers can be fitted with a raised or lowered hitch. The standard drawbar is a pivoting drawbar with two double-acting cylinders. The Scharmüller drawbar ball coupling contributes to increased ease of driving (optionally).

     

    TRANSMISSION
    Unique drive line


    Inlet gear: The robust, spiral toothed gear is ideally designed. The drive line leads from a single-row high-performance roller chain to the loading rotor and then on to the pickup.
    Rotor transmission: The rotor is driven via a simple roller chain (1 1/2 inches) with automatic chuck. The transmission chains of the rotors and pickup are automatically lubricated when the pickup is elevated.
    The scraper floor transmission is positioned on the side and is driven by the tractor hydraulics. The speed can be freely controlled from the operating console.
    Loading rotor transmission The loading rotor transmission is protected and on the right-hand side of the trailer. The drive shaft is secured with a cam clutch coupling with 1,200 Nm.


    PICKUP
    The wide pickup delivers incredible cropping performance even with heavy or irregular swaths.
    Transfer plates 3 separate the dirt from the forage. This protects the cutting unit. The scrapers are bolted four times in order to ensure high stability. 


    Pick-up
    The pickup has six rows of tines with super “C” steel tines. The central metal support disc provides high stability. The narrow tine spacing means that the forage is collected safely even at high driving speeds.

    Transfer plates separate the dirt from the forage. This protects the cutting unit. The scrapers are bolted four times in order to ensure high stability. 

    CUTTING UNIT
    This unique-to-the-market pivotable knife bank is standard to the range.

    1. Easy lowering of knife bank by pressing the button on the left-hand side of the trailer.
    2. Undo the bolting mechanism bolts and pivot the bank out to the side.
    3. Release the knives using the lever.


    LOADING
    The constant force progression when loading without torque peaks is a feature of the FARO. feed channel. The automatic loading system (optional) ensures that the loading chamber is optimally filled.

    UNLOADING
    L-type trailers
    Automatic unloading system:
    Sequence control of tailgate and scraper floor.
    The wide opening enables quick unloading.


    Scraper Floor
    A heavy duty hydraulic motor provides the transmission. The speed can be freely controlled. The scraper floor can also be driven by a two-stage motor.

    PROPORTIONING TRAILERS (D-type)
    A uniform carpet of forage is a prerequisite for perfect compaction at the silo. The automatic unloading system for proportioning trailers takes the stress off the driver and protects the machine.

    CHASSIS
    Increasing load volumes and transport speeds necessitate robust, ground-protecting chassis. Pöttinger has made great efforts in this area. The answer comes in the form of wide-tread tyres and a stable chassis.

    SPRING-SUSPENSION TANDEM AXLES
    The compound suspension optimally distributes the ground pressure over both axles. Huge leaf springs (9 springs) provide the necessary safety.

    Spring-suspension tandem axles

    The 4-wheel pneumatic brake system with automatic load-dependent braking system (ALB) controls ensures safe braking at high speed and with heavy loads. A jockey steering axle(optional for the FARO 6300 and 8000) protects the tyres and turf.
