High-performance seed drill technology

Farmers are under increasing pressure to operate as cost-effectively as possible. Due to high seed prices, the necessary seed volume has to be distributed accurately, from 0.5 kg to 450 kg per hectare. It is therefore necessary for arable farmland to be operated using modern, compact seed drills. Exact seed placement is the key to financial success with guaranteed yield and increased quality.

The all-round solution
Minimum tillage is no match for the pure mulch drilling process. Today, conventional seed drill technology is also increasing in demand. The combination of power harrow and seed drill needs to be able to cope with the conditions in fields with varying levels of ground cover. Reduced tillage on the one hand and conventional drill usage on the other hand require that the machines adopt an all-round solution, especially regarding the seed drill coulter system.

Where areas are covered with mulch the drill coulters need to open up the seed drill with precision and really slice through the blanket of mulch.
The single-disc coulter solution in combination with the bar point fitted to the Pöttinger Aerosem penetrates the soil perfectly. The coulter disc forms the seed drill while clearing away surface material without dislodging too much earth. It is important that no straw remains in the groove, which would have a negative effect on the germination of the seed.
To improve productivity and reduce refilling intervals, the Aerosem is now available with a tank volume of up to 1,400 litres. Thanks to the compact design of this machine its centre of gravity is close to the tractor, which has a positive effect on weight distribution.

The power harrow produces a homogenous mixture of earth and straw. With the power harrow set to the right depth and with a suitably powerful tractor it is possible to reach high travelling speeds while working. The tine settings on the power harrow can be selected as required. If the surface of the soil is hard or covered with mulch then the driver can choose to place the tines in the aggressive position. For purely conventional use, however, it is recommended that they are left in the normal position.

New types of roller have been introduced to the range of trailed rollers, such as the cutting packer roller featuring rings with specially-shaped geometry around the circumference, or crumbler packing rollers for producing a smooth, level structure on the surface and yet compacting at seed level.
