New Pöttinger factory in Vodnany, Czech Republic

Pöttinger invested EUR 7.8 million in the first phase of this manufacturing plant

In the business year 2005/2006 Pöttinger again achieved two-figure growth and record sales of EUR 171.1 million with an export quota of 83%. And growth in double figures is forecast again this year. The Czech Republic was number 5 in the table of top growth countries in the previous year and, together with Slovakia, accounted for 10% of turnover. According to the DLG Image Barometer 2006, Pöttinger reached an incredible 5th place in the Czech Republic. This strong position in the Czech market and the proximity to our headquarters in Grieskirchen, Austria, were significant factors in the decision to expand.

The new Pöttinger manufacturing and technology location in Vodnany, Czech Republic, started production in May 2007. Pöttinger, a family-owned company, invested EUR 7.8 million in the first phase of this manufacturing plant. In a second phase Pöttinger plans to install an automotive quality painting line in Vodnany, including a powder coating line and new hardening system. The investment for the second stage amounts to EUR 14 million and the plant is scheduled for start up in the autumn of 2008.

The new factory was installed 200 metres away from the old building and following the first stage of construction offers 5,600 m² of manufacturing space and 300 m² of offices. The plant offers capacity for 150 employees. The second phase will add another 5,600 m².

In addition to the production of innovative agricultural technology, this plant manufacturers components for Pöttinger headquarters in Grieskirchen, Austria, and our seed drill plant in Bernburg, Germany. Moreover, Vodnany will be developed to become a knowledge and technology interpolation point. The second building stage will complete the concept to establish a development centre for tillage in Vodnany. With this development Pöttinger underlines its partnership philosophy of promoting close cooperation between new technologies and experience in the field.

Cutting edge methods were applied to the realisation of the Vodnany project: the building is based on the integrated factory concept. All process sequences from conception of the product through to manufacturing have been made transparent; offices and production have been integrated to form a single unit. Even the suppliers who have been in long-term business partnerships with Pöttinger are included in the overall process. This concept enables Pöttinger to respond rapidly to the needs of the market.
